Hi! I’m Soraya. :) I’m a fiber artist, graphic designer, and illustrator based in Queens, New York.

I received my BFA in Graphic Design from New York Institute of Technology and I’ve been obsessed with the spaces between letters ever since.

After years of working as a graphic designer, I really started to miss the tactile feeling of creating art with my hands, one that I’d had with watercolor painting and crocheting. So I taught myself how to embroider and punch needle! These fiber art forms relieved my anxiety, my eye strain, and really opened up a world of creativity for me. ♡

I’ve taught embroidery workshops at the Queens Botanical Garden, Nassau County Museum of Art, Stay Forever, and other studios across NYC. Some of my embroidery clients have included Gucci, Birkenstock, Erborian, Janis Studios, Court & Rowe, and Nordstrom. In 2020, before the world changed, I was awarded the QAF New Works Grant and my solo exhibition, With Every Fiber of Our Being, was on view at the Queens Botanical Garden. It was a dream come true.

One of my favorite ways to relax is by making a giant bowl of popcorn, putting on a good movie, and playing a game of Scrabble with my husband. My favorite color is cornflower blue, I love embroidering for hours at a time, and any day that I get to pet a dog or a cat is the best day of my life.
